Essential oils are compounds extracted from plants. The oils capture the plant’s scent and flavor, or “essence.” Unique aromatic compounds give each essential oil its characteristic essence. Essential oils are obtained through distillation (via steam and/or water) or mechanical methods, such as cold pressing.

Pure Essential Oils Contain Zero Artificial Substances. Pure essential oils do not contain any diluents, therefore, if there is any form of synthetics found in them, then they are not considered pure. Fragrance or perfumed oil, on the other hand, contains man made synthetics and alcohol.

Essential oils are basically plant extracts. They’re made by steaming or pressing various parts of a plant (flowers, bark, leaves or fruit) to capture the compounds that produce fragrance. It can take several pounds of a plant to produce a single bottle of essential oil.
Essential oils are distilled from the leaves, roots, bark and other aromatic portions of a plant/botanical. These oils, as previously mentioned, evaporate, and have a concentrated aroma. Fixed oils are pressed from the fatty portions of a plant or botanical, such as the seeds, nuts or kernels.
You can use them to relieve pain and cramping, improve respiratory health, and heal skin conditions. They also relieve congestion, promote healthy sleep patterns, and boost your mood.
Ylang Ylang Essential Oil: Incredibly strong, sweet and floral, Ylang Ylang has a way of stealing the show in essential oil blends. Its intoxicating aroma adds a wonderfully floral touch to any diffuser blend.
Essential oils have the potential to aggravate the skin. Avoid using essential oils near sensitive areas such as the eyes, ears, and mouth. Do not apply them to broken, inflamed, or irritated skin. You can look out for potential skin allergies by doing a patch test before using any carrier or essential oil.9
Essential oils can also be a powerful way to help you relax and sleep better. Although research on the use of essential oils is limited, lavender essential oil is widely recognized as a natural sleep aid.
Essential oils can help you improve the health of your hair with very little risk of side effects at an affordable price point. They’re also easy to use. For many, mixing some with a carrier oil or your shampoo and applying that to your scalp regularly can increase hair growth, strength, or shine.
